What is Craniosacral Therapy?

What Should I Expect?

You will lie on a massage table in comfortable clothing. Relaxing music plays and you rest! The practitioner uses light touch, manual techniques with the hands to release problem areas. This improves the function of the Central Nervous System, which gives the body what it needs for self-healing.

During the treatment, the Sympathetic Nervous System (flight or fight response) is dialed down and the Parasympathetic Nervous System (rest, digest, repair response) can function and aid in the healing process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Craniosacral Therapy energy work?
A: No, CST is a manual therapy. However, whether it is physical restrictions or energy restrictions that are palpated and found by the practitioner, both will be released through CST techniques.

Q: What will I feel during treatment?
A: This varies from person to person. I feel absolutely nothing, usually, during the treatment itself. But within the next few days and up to a week later, I start seeing/feeling profound results. Clients have reported feeling a deep sense of relaxation; some clients fall into an alpha state of sleep; some clients report feeling physical releases in areas of pain. Many people report sleeping better than they have for a long time.

Q: How often should I receive CST treatments?
A: My professional and personal recommendation is that everyone should receive some kind of bodywork once a month, at a minimum. I aim for bodywork every other week, myself. This includes massage or CST, for me.

My Passion

My passion is to see people refuse to live with chronic pain. Movement is life!

I started my bodywork journey with a year-long course in Omaha, Nebraska. As a military wife, I’ve taken bodywork with me to California, South Korea, Florida and Utah. My husband is retiring here, so Utah is our permanent home. I am a full-time homeschool mom and a part-time jazz musician at nursing homes in the greater SLC area (Youtube/AmyKimballJazz).

Three Treatments
If you have not experienced CST before, or if it has been a long time, it is valuable to schedule three treatments within three to four weeks for maximum benefit. The effects of the treatment work in the body for up to seven days afterwards, so if you receive the first three treatments in succession, you will really get the snowball effect of healing started in the body!
